Phone-paid services? What are they?

Basically, 'phone-paid services' are products or services that you use your phone to pay for. For example, ringtones and wallpaper downloads, TV voting lines and entering competitions.

In 2008, people in the UK spent nearly £1 billion on phone-paid services, with approximately 29 million people using them at least once.

Most phone-paid services are run by nice, friendly, and honest businesses, giving you what you want for a fair price. But that doesn't mean you can just sit back and think that you can trust everyone - unfortunately, only 15% of 11-17 year olds read advertising about phone-paid services 'most of the time' or 'always,' meaning that a lot of users will walk away ending up unhappy with what they got for their money.

So we're here to help you to learn more about phone-paid services and how to use them without getting ripped off...
